This delightful collection of illustrated children's verse by two great Australians is now recognised as a classic. it brings to life such characters as Weary Will the Wombat, Bristling Billy the Porcupine, Old Man Platypus, Benjamin Bandicoot and many others.

The book was written for children but like all classics, it reaches out to people of all ages. It reveals Paterson's great love of the Australian bush coupled with his poetic sense and his innate humour and includes the most charming verses ever written about Australian animals, perfectly matched by Norman Lindsay's light-hearted and appealing sketches. According to Paterson's biographer Dr Clement Semmler, There has not been better poetry written before or since.

The Animals Noah Forgot was written in 1933 when Paterson and Lindsay were working for The Bulletin.

Andrew Barton (Banjo) Paterson was one of Australia's best-loved poets. He was born at Narrambla, near Molong, NSW on 17 February 1864 and was the most popular of the balladists who emerged towards the close of the 19th century. His best known works are The Man from Snowy River and the ballad Waltzing Matilda. He died in 1941.
