CONTAINER EXHIBITIONS

In the 1970s and 80s, Bloomfield Galleries held numerous exhibitions of up-and-coming artists at their contemporary Paddington galleries. At the end of the 1980s, we ceased holding exhibitions and concentrated on a select number of artists including Norman Lindsay, Frank Hinder and Jeremy Gordon and diversified into other avenues, mainly book publishing. The 2000s saw us move to a regional area, Bungendore, close to the nation's capital, and continue book publishing as well as holding small exhibitions. The 2010s, with the GFC, saw us sell our premises in Bungendore, move into five forty-foot long shipping containers and continue to promote and sell original Australia art.

Now, in 2019, we are looking at holding small shows by select artists and exhibiting these as our "Container Exhibitions". The works are mostly mounted but unframed and will be exhibited in our showroom container. Appointments can be made on Fridays to view these works but they will be on our website and available to download. Container Exhibitions will be limited to show up to twenty or so works at any given time with criteria either showcasing an artist, a theme or an idea. We envisage holding four to six a year and they will run anywhere between six and sixteen weeks. We are looking forward to again bringing you exhibitions of Australia art and showcasing artistic talent which deserves a wider audience.
